Design, Uncertainty Analysis, and Measurement of a Silicon-Based Platelet THz Corrugated Horn

Platelets corrugated horn is a promising technology for its scalability to large array. In this communication, we present the design, fabrication, measurement, and uncertainty analysis of wideband 170–320 GHz platelet that features with low sidelobe across band (<−30 dB). We also propose an accurate universal method analyze axial misalignment platelets first time. It based on mode matching (MM) closed-form solution off-axis circular waveguide discontinuities obtained by using Graf addition theorem Bessel functions. The uncertainties introduced in fabrication have been quantitatively analyzed Monte Carlo method. shows cross-polarization degrades significantly misalignment. well explains discrepancy between designed measured fabricated THz band. can be used determine tolerance needed other horns evaluate impact astronomical observations.
